***LUXE Bridal Event 2014!***

I can't believe that the Luxe Bridal event 2014 is only 2 days away!!  It seems like we were just at the 2013 Luxe Bridal Event!! Where does the time go??.....

    Last February,  I was lucky enough to be an exhibitor in the Luxe Bridal Event 2013- and what an experience!!  After the show,  I knew I'd be back for the next one for sure!!  This was a bridal show like none I've ever attended- when the Luxe team says it's "more like a swanky spring party than a pipe and draped trade show", they aren't kidding!!  The show was GORGEOUS-  Even though I've been married for several years (and loved everything about my wedding)  this show made me want to plan a wedding! :)  Not only was  I super impressed with the show, we had a ton of fun-  it was a BLAST!  (obviously.....you can tell from our Usnaps photos.... My boys came to visit me at the end of the show :)

    This year Portland Make-up and hair has the honor of being the Beauty Sponsor for the event, and we can't wait!!  Myself, and some of the talented PM&H team (Josalyn, Olivia, Kaitlyn, & Brittany,)  will be there hosting the "Beauty/Lash Bar" where we will be doing "mini-makeovers, lash applications, and some light hairstyling.

***Holiday look: Foiled Lip***

                A foiled lip is a great way to amp up your make-up for holiday parties or New Year’s! It’s a really festive look that’s very sultry and coy. There are metallic lipsticks out there but nothing really that gives you a foiled look like eye shadow minerals over lip gloss (and this way you can use something you already own!). If the idea doesn’t sound or look pretty to you, it’s one of those things that you should actually try first before you dismiss it… you might be surprised how sexy it is. Here’s how:

 

TOOLS:

 •Clear Lip Gloss — I used MAC Clear Lipglass

 •Any pink/red/coral mineral eye shadow that has a shimmer to it — I used MAC Rose pigment, a gorgeous mauve-rose shimmer.

 •Any gold/silver mineral eye shadow that is metallic — I used MAC melon pigment- because it’s a soft bright golden color with a little bit of a peachy tone.

 

STEPS:

 1. Apply the gloss all over. Blot with tissue if it’s too goopy.

 2. Sprinkle the minerals in two tiny piles on a glass palette or your countertop.

 3. Press your finger into the darker shade (rose shimmer in our case) to pick up the product.

 

 4. Stamp the shadow across your bottom then top lip.

 5.Press your finger into the lighter metallic shade (gold in our case).

 6.Repeat stamping the shadow across your lips. Or for a fuller lip illusion, stamp it only in the center of both your top and bottom lips.   Voila, you’re done!  How pretty is that???

 

 

To finish off your look, pair it with a smoky eye. In this case, I would go for matte shades on your eyes as not to compete with your metallic lip.  And, off to the holiday party you go! :)

"Step into Fashion"-benefit fashion show

       Lately,  there are so many new things happening for my business-   I've decided it's time for me to start blogging so I can share all the fun & exciting things!!!   After working with Tiffany (and awesome MUA,  and an amazing friend) on Friday at the annual  "Step into Fashion" benefit fashion show,  I thought now was the PERFECT time to start! :)

   "Step into Fashion"  is a Silent Auction, Dinner, Fashion Show & Make-Over: Featuring apparel from Agave Denim & Lily Atelier, talent provided by Sports + Lifestyle Unlimited, Hair by Salon Magnolia and Makeup by Tiffany & myself. 

  I was honored to be part of this event that benefits Second Step Housing and their mission to foster self-sufficiency for at-risk women and families through building and rehabilitating affordable housing paired with community services.

 
      Not only did we do all the models make-up,  we also gave two "deserving women" make-overs.  This was the best part!   The ladies received hair make-overs from Magnolia Salon,  clothing  from Lily Altelier,  and make-up by Tiffany & me.  It was awesome to watch their reaction when the first looked in the mirror!     I loved hearing "Is that REALLY ME??",......and "Wow,..... dang,  I look GOOD!".  I really do have an awesome job. :)

 

 

 

It was so awesome to be part of this event for the second year-  and really neat to see how much it's grown in just one year!!  Looking forward to the 2013 show!! :)
